G’day Friends,

The year is galloping on past at a fast pace and the dust has not yet settled on the Golden Guitars, which I was honoured to receive in Tamworth this year.  I still have to pinch myself when I see three Golden Guitars sitting there in my trophy cabinet.

Another extra special honour I was given was to be inducted into the Hands of Fame, which I found very humbling.  While I was in town I also collected three Tamworth Songwriters Awards, which is always very rewarding because song writing is where it all starts.  The competition is always of a high standard.

Just recently I have signed a distribution deal with WJO/UNIVERSAL AUSTRALIA.  It is indeed a good thing to now have my albums available in all major music store chains.  It is always a difficult thing to get your music out to the masses when you are an Independent Artist; for too long you would hear the common story of “our local CD store can’t get your music“.  Hopefully this agreement should put an end to that.

I have recorded a new song titled “Lorraine“, which has been written by my mate Ian Quinn.  The song is a tribute to a famous and highly renowned Cattle Property in the Queensland Gulf Country “LORRAINE STATION”.  The property this year celebrates 100 years of ownership by the same family company.  In this day and economic environment, that is an outstanding effort.  The song has been released on the new ABBA Compilation CD and will be included on my next Bush Ballad album which I will record in September.

Just the other day I was reflecting back on my music career as a Bush Ballad Artist and Country Music Singer and all the things that happened along the way.  I really have become mates with some wonderful staunch people and I truly appreciate and thank them for their help along the way.  And to those very few who’s input has been negative …. Thanks for the will to prove you wrong.

Once again I have been out and about performing at shows and festivals; my apologies that I was unable to attend Phil and Chris Coad’s festival at Bundaberg.  It is always a top event and I am sad I had to cancel it this year.

The remainder of the year is shaping up to be busy once again with bookings from the Gympie Muster and Nanango Country Muster through to the Slim Dusty Memories Festival as well as my own shows.

That’s all for now, see you along the road of song somewhere.

Kind seasons and safe tracks,

Dean
