WHEN the three crosses that poke out of the hill near Mt Walker are lit up at night, it can mean only one thing.

Good Friday is approaching and so is the massive annual celebration that unites several of the Ipswich area's major church groups.

Various denominations will come together to mark the holy day with musical performances and hymn singing.

Previous years the annual Good Friday Service on The Hill has attracted up to 700 people.

The service aims to honour the "true meaning" of Good Friday.
